Thirteen Ways To Use Baking Soda in the Kitchen
Last week I shared 13 ways that baking soda can be used in
cooking. Today I will share 13 ways baking soda can be used in the kitchen. But first I would like to share with you just why baking soda works.
How and Why Baking Soda works:

Remove stains on countertops from ink marks or tea bags by making a paste of baking soda and water.

Remove food odors such as onions and garlic by sprinkling some baking powder on a damp sponge and scrubbing wood or other porous surfaces.

Keep cutting boards clean and clear of contamination by spreading baking soda across the surface, then sprinkling with vinegar. The bubbles will do the work for you.

To keep your dish towels smelling fresh, sprinkle baking soda on them, then shake off the excess into the sink.

Keep your garbage disposal clean by using this mixture: ¼ cup baking soda and ½ cup hot vinegar. Pour the combo down the disposal and wait a few minutes before rinsing with very hot water.

For a really tough clogged drain, try this combo: ½ cup baking soda and salt, 1 cup boiling water. Let it sit overnght, then flush in the morning with hot tap water.

Freshen your dishwasher by adding ½ box of baking soda and running it through a rinse cycle.

Clean plastic containers with a paste of baking soda and water, using a dishrag.

Clean your microwave with a cleaning solution made of 4 tablespoons baking soda and 1 quart warm water.

For easy cleaning of caked on mess in the microwave, boil a few spoonfuls of baking soda in a microwave safe dish for 3-5 minutes. The inside will now be damp and easy to wipe down with a paper towel or dishrag.

For a small, non-grease fire, toss baking soda on it to extinguish the fire.

Spilled cooking oil on your stovetop? Remove it with a solution of white vinegar and baking soda.

Prevent grease fires on gas stoves by keeping a little baking soda in the shallow drip pans under the gas burners. The soda will deodorize any odors and help minimize the possibility of grease drippings catching on fire.

Those are great tips! A paste made from baking soda and washing up liquid is also a very effective cleaner, especially for baths!
These tips are great. I never know that Baking Soda was such a “wonder product”. I look forward to finding out how this product deals with B.O. in people, as I would like to make this a part of my gift giving.
