How To Edit Your Photos For Free Without Using Photoshop!

Published by laneerg at 5:35 pm under 1 Edit This

Years ago the Photoshop program came with a computer I bought. It was a great program, although it had many features I didn’t need. That particular program I had then, is now long outdated and in a landfil somewhere.

Up until recently, I haven’t really needed a photo editing program. I had one that came with my defunct digital camera which was somewhat useful, but left a lot to be desired. But now, with using a lot more photos, I needed something which was useful, but also wouldn’t hurt my pocketbook.

Fotoflexer.com is an online photo editing program which is completely free. You can use it with or without registering.

Some of my favorite features:

  1. When you crop a picture, it resizes the whole picture so there is no empty space.
  2. You can resize the pictures manually, or by preset measurements based on your needed usage.
  3. It has an automatic color fixer for those pictures which may have been a bit too light or too dark.
  4. You can add text to your pictures.

It has other features as well, that I haven’t used much, but could be useful:

  • Create different looks with Sepia, PopArt, Bronze, etc.
  • Go to the Geek tab to: Smart Resize, Smart ReColor, Curves, Smart Cutouts, Morph 2 pictures, etc.
  • Within the Layers tab, you can use the tools to create different layers
  • Use the Distort tab to really have fun with your picture - you can Squeeze, Pinch, Budge, Stretch, and Twirl
  • If you*really* want to have some fun, you can add animated objects such as stars and hearts under the Animated tab
  • With the Decorate tab you can Insert a Face, Add a Border, add text (even Glitter Text) plus more!

Here are some examples:

A normal, untouched photo:                                 A photo using the Old Photo function:

And here is the same picture again, only cropped to showcase the subject (plus for a little fun, an added animation which I usually never do):

I hope you find this free photo editing website as useful as I have, and have a lot of fun playing with your photos!

I’m so glad you posted about this! I was thinking about buying some photoshop software to edit and resize photos to post on my blog! I thought that there must be something out there, thanks!

P.S. I wonder if I could use this to create an entrecard?

What a fabulous idea. I am so technically challenged but the way you layed it out step by step, I think that it is doable. I am going to try it.

Thanks for the info! I’m using Picasa for photos I take, and Paint.net (also a freebie) for cropping and shrinking and uploading images that I use on my blogs (Picasa is very clunky for that — especially for posting to non-blogspot blogs). I’m really liking Paint.net now, after I got over the initial learning hump, but this one you’re writing about sounds interesting too, especially since it makes borders, a feature I’d really like to have, which can’t be easily done on Paint.net.
