My desk is situated right near the nice big color copier. This has made me be privy to all the many ways people have been frustrated by the copier.

Let me tell you about some random funny things relating to the men in our office and the copier:

• Our Landman decided to try and scan his own document. I talked him through it from my desk. Unfortunately, when he had finished scanning, he started pressing a lot of different buttons attempting to get it back into Copy mode. He ended up pressing a button which basically caused the entire copier to freeze up. It took me 10 minutes to get the copier going again. I do ALL his scanning now.
• One day I was copying a bunch of articles from various journals for my main boss. The youngest male employee came by needing to make a color copy. I let him in to make his copy. His attention was instantly drawn to one of the journals on the copier. It had an advertisement for an upcoming conference - featuring .. a basketball.
• Later that same day I was making more copies. (Yes, I do spend a lot of time at the copier.) Our Landman came by and needed to make a color copy - so I let him in. After having started the copying process, he attempted to spit his gum into the trash basket by the copier. He missed. The gum went IN the copier where copies come out. Luckily he was able to retrieve the gum - it was stuck on some of the copies. These were copies he was going to give to some people he was meeting with. His words, “A little sticky won’t hurt them!”
