Boy listening to Walkman

Do you enjoy listening to music?

Music, to me, is the spice of life. Certain songs can evoke all kinds of memories, whether they are good or not so good.

Music can make you feel like there is nothing else to do but get up and MOVE.

Music can touch your heart with words that speak to thoughts you may have had, but never had the words to put them into.

Music can make you angry by touching on issues or using words that offend and hurt.

Music can offer the chance to relax and be uplifted at the same time.

Music can make you laugh till your sides hurt (thanks Weird Al!)

Wherever I am, I almost always have music as a part of me. But, as much as I love music, I don’t love the expense of buying it.

Listening to the radio of course is a good way to have your fill of free music. But how many times has a new song come on, and you miss hearing its name? Or perhaps you have a station you mostly enjoy, but hate it when it turns to talk?

I’d like to offer you a free (and legal) alternative to the radio.

Pandora.com is by far the best online music station I have found. There are other options out there, but I believe that Pandora
offers much more.

How do you use Pandora?

  1. The first step after registering, is to create a station. To create a station, just enter a song title or an artists name into the search box.
  2. Pandora will then search its database to find songs that match either the type of song you requested, or songs by similar artists. You won’t get the particular song you requested right away due to licensing restrictions - but it will come eventually. :D
  3. Once you have your first station created, then the real fun begins! As each song selection plays, you can give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Pandora will use this information to learn what types of music you most enjoy.
  4. If you need to stop the music for awhile, you can always pause it.
  5. If there is a song that you do like that is playing, but you don’t want to hear it right then, you can skip it. Be careful though, you can only skip six songs per hour!
  6. On the Menu button, you can also choose to make a song go off the play list for one month.
  7. If you hear a song that you really like, and think you’d like to remember it for later, then all you have to do is go to the Menu button, and bookmark it.
  8. Another really neat feature is that as each song is playing, underneath the play list is a window which shows the name of the artist, a short biography, and a list of similar artists.
  9. There are many other really interesting features on Pandora.com, but the above are the ones I find most useful.

So, if you love to listen to music, especially free music, then I suggest you give Pandora.com a try.

I love Pandora! It’s the very first thing I signed up for after I first got broadband. I also like Live 365.

I tried Pandora a while ago, but my tastes seem to be too obscure for it to really work with. Such a pity!

I will have to check out that site for listening to music while at home working on the computer. Thanks for sharing :)
